Undenatured Type II collagen (UC-II) is a natural form of collagen derived from chicken cartilage, maintaining its full-length, unaltered structure, unlike hydrolyzed collagen, which is broken down into smaller fragments. This form of collagen is primarily associated with joint health, as Type II collagen is the main protein found in cartilage, providing strength and flexibility to joints. UC-II works by modulating the immune system through a mechanism called oral tolerance, where the body is trained to recognize the collagen in cartilage as its own. This process helps reduce inflammation and protects against joint damage, particularly in conditions like osteoarthritis. Research has shown that UC-II can alleviate symptoms of joint pain, improve mobility, and even promote cartilage regeneration.
The effectiveness of UC-II in supporting joint health lies in its ability to reduce inflammation, protect cartilage, and improve joint function. Clinical studies suggest that taking small doses (40 mg to 60 mg per day) can significantly reduce pain and stiffness, even offering protection against further joint degeneration. Unlike other collagen supplements that require higher doses, UC-II’s immune-modulating effects make it potent at lower doses.

  • Supports Joint Health: UC-II is rich in the collagen protein that makes up cartilage in the joints, helping maintain and support the structural integrity of cartilage. This is especially beneficial for dogs with osteoarthritis or joint degeneration.
  • Reduces Joint Pain and Stiffness: Numerous studies have demonstrated that UC-II can help alleviate joint pain, discomfort, and stiffness. It works by modulating the immune system to reduce inflammation, which is a major contributor to joint pain.
  • Improves Mobility and Flexibility: By reducing pain and inflammation, UC-II can improve the range of motion and overall mobility in the joints. This helps dogs regain better function and flexibility.
  • Promotes Cartilage Regeneration: UC-II has been shown to support the repair and regeneration of damaged cartilage in the joints. This may slow down the progression of joint degeneration and protect against further damage.
  • Unique Immune System Modulation: Unlike other collagen supplements, UC-II works through an immune-modulating mechanism known as oral tolerance. By teaching the immune system to recognize the collagen in cartilage as part of the body, it helps prevent the immune system from attacking the cartilage, thereby reducing inflammation and damage.
  • Low Dosage, High Effectiveness: UC-II has been shown to be effective at lower doses (typically 40 mg for a 25kg dog), making it a potent option for dogs struggling with joint discomfort without needing to take large amounts of collagen supplements.
  • Long-Term Joint Protection: Regular supplementation with UC-II can contribute to long-term joint health by reducing the breakdown of cartilage, potentially delaying or preventing the need for joint replacement surgeries in some cases.
  • Synergistic with other treatments: UC-II can be used in conjunction with other treatments for joint injuries, such as physical therapy, medications, or rehabilitation exercises. Its immune-modulating and cartilage-supporting properties make it a useful complement to traditional injury recovery methods.

Undenatured Collagen Type II.

Undenatured Type II collagen (UC-II) is extracted from chicken cartilage, primarily from the trachea or sternum, using a low-temperature process to preserve its natural, unaltered structure. The cartilage is gently processed to isolate the collagen, often using enzymes to remove other components without affecting the collagen itself. After extraction, the collagen is purified through filtration or centrifugation to remove non-collagenous materials. The purified collagen is then dried and powdered, ensuring a consistent concentration of UC-II. This method maintains the collagen’s full-length, triple-helix structure, crucial for its immune-modulating and joint-supporting properties.

Store in a cool & dry place – avoid storing in spaces that are moldy or humid.
Do not use wet spoons.

We have kept the UC II in its original state – no additives, no fillers and no bulking agents. The scoop is provided to ease the daily dosing because dogs will require a very small quantity per day.

Start with a small pinch and up to recommended quantity over a span of 2-3 days. Always monitor for any digestive discomfort. Reduce the dosage if your dog seems have any digestive discomfort. Stop adding the supplement if your dog continues to display digestive distress.

  • 1/4 scoop up to 7kg dog
  • 1/2 scoop for 8 – 15kg dog
  • 3/4 scoop for 16kg – 22kg dog
  • 1 scoop for 23kg – 30kg dog
  • 2 scoops for 31kg and above

*Add to one meal only.

  • Do not use the product if your dog is pregnant.
  • Always start with a very small pinch and check for allergic reactions especially if your dog reacts to poultry.
  • Excessive intake may cause GI issues if the body struggles to absorb or process the excess collagen.
  • Excessive intake might also overstimulate the immune system. Use only half the recommended dosage for dogs with autoimmune conditions.
  • This jar of 10g will approximately last you for – 4 months for a 25kg dog.
