Benefits of Soil-Based Probiotics for Dogs:
Soil-based probiotics (SBOs) offer unique benefits that can significantly improve your dog’s digestive health. These probiotics are derived from naturally occurring bacteria found in the soil, and they are specifically known for their resilience and ability to survive harsh environments, such as the acidic conditions of the stomach.
Why Soil-Based Probiotics are More Likely to Reach the Gut:
Unlike many other probiotics, which can be destroyed by stomach acid before reaching the gut, soil-based probiotics are naturally equipped to survive the acidic environment of the stomach. This makes them more effective at colonizing the intestines where they can exert their full benefits. Here’s why:
-
Survivability: SBOs have an incredibly tough outer shell that makes them resistant to stomach acids, bile, and digestive enzymes. This unique feature allows them to survive the passage through the stomach and reach the intestines intact, where they can establish themselves and thrive.
-
Natural Encapsulation: The spores of soil-based probiotics are naturally encapsulated in a protective coating that helps them survive under extreme conditions. This “hardiness” allows them to survive in the digestive system longer and reach deeper areas of the intestines compared to other probiotics that may not have this natural protection.
-
Targeted Action: Once SBOs reach the gut, they are more likely to adhere to the intestinal lining and contribute to a healthy balance of bacteria. Their spore-forming nature also allows them to “wake up” and become active when conditions in the gut are favorable, further enhancing their effectiveness.
Benefits for Dogs with Specific Health Concerns:
-
Dogs Struggling with Chronic Digestive Issues
Strains like Bacillus Coagulans and Bacillus Indicus have been shown to support gut health by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract. Studies indicate that these probiotics help alleviate chronic digestive issues, improve digestion, and enhance nutrient absorption, providing relief to dogs suffering from ongoing stomach discomfort or irregularity. -
Dogs Struggling with IBD, Pancreatic Disorders, SIBO, or EPI
Probiotics such as Saccharomyces Boulardii are beneficial for dogs dealing with digestive conditions like IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), pancreatic disorders, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), or Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). Research has demonstrated that Saccharomyces Boulardii helps to restore gut health by balancing gut microbiota, reducing inflammation, and supporting the intestinal barrier, thus promoting better digestion and reducing symptoms related to these conditions. -
Dogs Struggling with Autoimmune Diseases
The combination of Bacillus Coagulans and Bacillus Indicus can help support the immune system in dogs with autoimmune diseases. Studies show that these probiotic strains help regulate immune responses, reduce inflammation, and improve gut flora, which plays a significant role in modulating the body’s immune activity, aiding dogs with autoimmune conditions. -
Dogs Struggling with Skin Issues and Allergies
For dogs with skin conditions and allergies, Burdock Root Extract and Nettle Leaf Extract offer anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce skin irritation and improve coat health. Additionally, studies indicate that Saccharomyces Boulardii helps regulate gut health, which is often linked to skin conditions caused by food sensitivities or allergies. The gut-skin connection means that improving gut health can lead to noticeable improvements in skin health.
Feeding Instructions:
Mix Into a Fresh Meal: For optimal results, mix the recommended amount into your dog’s fresh meal and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before serving. Alternatively, mix with 1-3 tsp of room temperature water and then add it to the meal. You can also add the powder directly to the meal if that’s how your dog prefers it. *If you are feeding the product with kibble, we recommend that you mix with water and then add it to kibble. Don’t feed kibble though, plenty of reasons to switch to fresh.
Recommended Serving Sizes (per day):
- Small Dogs: 1/4 tsp (approx. 1.25g)
- Medium Dogs: 1/2 tsp (approx. 2.5g)
- Large Dogs: 1 tsp (approx. 4.7g)
Gradual Introduction: Start with a small pinch and gradually increase the amount to the recommended serving size to allow your dog’s digestive system to adjust.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight, humid and moldy spaces. DO NOT REFRIGERATE, it will cause the extracts to become a solid block.
Avoid Heat: Do not mix with hot food or expose to heat to preserve the integrity of the probiotics and nutrients.
Avoid using a wet spoon: If the product comes in contact with moisture, heat or air, the product will become solid and start to smell bad. DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN COLOR OR SMELL.
