Canine Gut Microbiome Test

Understand your dog’s health – starting with the gut.

The gut microbiome is home to trillions of microorganisms – bacteria, fungi, viruses, and more – that influence nearly every aspect of your dog’s health. From digestion and immunity to skin, weight, and even behavior, a balanced microbiome is key to overall well-being.

At Georgina’s Kitchen, we offer two advanced ways to explore your dog’s gut health:

16S rRNA Sequencing – a reliable and affordable overview of the bacterial community.
Shotgun Metagenomic Sequencing – the gold standard for in-depth, species-level insights into the gut microbiome.

Option 1: 16S rRNA Gut Health Test

Best for a first look at gut health

16S rRNA sequencing focuses on a specific bacterial gene used as a “fingerprint” to identify different bacterial groups.

What it does:

Profiles the main groups of bacteria in your dog’s gut
Highlights imbalances and compares results to healthy canine benchmarks
Offers clear guidance on diet and probiotics

Benefits:

Affordable and reliable entry-level gut test
Detects early signs of imbalance
Useful for establishing a baseline
Screens for antibiotic resistance genes

Packages & Pricing:

₹10.500 – Includes test kit, sample pickup, and report
₹12.500 – Includes everything above, plus a one-time 45-minute veterinary consultation
(Inclusive of 18% GST and shipping)

Option 2: Shotgun Metagenomic Gut Health Test

The most advanced and detailed gut health test available

Shotgun metagenomic sequencing analyzes all DNA in your dog’s stool sample — not just bacteria — making it the most comprehensive method to study the gut microbiome.

What it does:

Identifies microbes down to species and strain level
Detects bacteria, fungi, viruses, and archaea
Screens for antibiotic resistance genes
Provides functional insights (digestion, inflammation control, vitamin production, immune modulation)
Captures rare microbes that other methods may miss

Benefits:

Strain-level accuracy for precise analysis
Detects fungal and yeast overgrowths (e.g., Candida, Aspergillus)
Explains chronic digestive issues or irregular stools
Links behavior changes (e.g., anxiety, aggression) to gut imbalance via the gut-brain axis
Useful for dogs with allergies, skin problems, IBD, or SIBO
Supports recovery after antibiotics, steroids, or illness
Enables long-term wellness tracking through repeat testing

Packages & Pricing:

₹14,999 – Includes test kit, sample pickup, sequencing, and detailed 22-page report
₹16,999 – Includes everything above, plus a one-time 45-minute veterinary consultation
(Inclusive of 18% GST and shipping)

How It Works

  1. Place your order — a test kit will be shipped within 1–2 business days.

  2. Collect a stool sample using the kit provided — it’s quick, clean, and simple.

  3. We arrange free pickup of the sample from your home.

  4. In the lab, we extract and sequence the DNA (16S or shotgun, depending on your choice).

  5. Your dog’s gut health report is delivered via email:

    • 16S: within ~30 – 40 working days

    • Shotgun: within ~30–40 working days

  6. If you’ve selected the vet consultation option, you’ll receive an invite to schedule your one-time 45-minute session shortly after the report is sent.

What’s Included

Stool collection kit (with gloves, tube, and step-by-step instructions)
Free sample pickup
DNA sequencing (16S or shotgun, depending on your choice)
Detailed gut health report with microbial analysis and personalized insights
Optional 45-minute veterinary consultation

When Not To Collect The Sample:

To make sure results are accurate and useful, avoid testing during these times:

Immediately after antibiotics or deworming – wait at least 4–6 weeks for the microbiome to recover.
If your dog has just finished steroids or antifungal medications – these can alter the gut balance and skew results.
After a sudden diet change – wait 2–3 weeks on the new diet so the microbiome has adjusted.
During a heat cycle (for females) – hormonal shifts can temporarily affect gut microbes.
When your dog has an active infection, vomiting, or bloody diarrhea – consult your vet first; urgent care comes before microbiome testing.
For puppies under 6 months – their microbiome is still developing, so results may not reflect long-term balance.
For dogs on probiotics or any other digestive supplements – Stop he supplements or probiotics for at least 10 days before you collect the sample

If you’re unsure whether it’s the right time to test, contact us before ordering and we’ll guide you.
